Do not let fear stand in the way of your recovery- Have your treatments done in anaesthesia!

There is a growing demand among patients to regain the health and beauty of their teeth in a calm and stress-free procedure. Ingrained bad experiences in childhood and fear can keep patients away from the dental chair for years and many times people only come to our clinic if there is a serious problem. This can be not just an emotional burden but a financial one as well and therefore we recommend these type of people to have the procedure in anaesthesia.

When it is recommended?

In some cases, when the contribution of the patient is also needed in the success of the treatment it is not recommended to perform the intervention is anaesthesia. The following diseases have a risk factor for carrying out the procedure in anaesthesia: diabetes, cardiovascular complaints, asthma and pregnancy. If the patient has a cold or a fever it is suggested to postpone the operation.

If somebody has a fear or gets into a tense condition from the sight of an injection needle or has nausea during the examination, he or she can be exempted from the inconvenience by choosing the opportunity of anaesthesia. If during the consultation or the health check, it turns out that an oral surgery is needed which would be long and painful-which would be too much to bear for the patient-then anaesthesia is recommended to our patients. This procedure allows the dentist to perform an accurate and quick work which is also confirmed by the patients.

How is anaesthesia done?

Before every single anaesthesia serious preparations has to be done. These are the necessary examinations before anaesthesia: EKG, laboratory procedure, blood group typing, blood sugar measurement, haematocrit, blood sedimentation and enzyme tests. All these examinations will be evaluated by an anesthesiologist. For us the safety of our patients is the most important aspect, therefore we offer a comprehensive information on anaesthesia. The anesthesiologist controls the whole process: he/she pays attention to breathing, circulation and the body’s reactions during the whole anaesthesia.

Stress-free conditions are guaranteed-besides the professional attitude of doctors- with sedative and analgesic medicine. The effect of the anesthetic drug takes until the medicine is given which is used to wake up the patient. Anesthetic drugs are injected to the body through a vein cannula, infusion is put into the left hand and the oxygen supply is provided with putting a face mask on the patient by the anesthesiologist. Patients cannot consume any food and drink six hours prior to the procedure and they are not allowed to smoke as well.

As discussed, an anaesthesia surgery cannot be longer than one and a half or two hours. During this time the dentist has a possibility to carry out so much work which otherwise could take several weeks.

What happens after anaesthesia?

We observe the patient for a couple of hours after the operation and he/she can leave with escort. He/she must not drive and it is advisable to relax 24 hours in calm conditions and to obey the instructions of the doctor until the next meeting comes.
Complete recovery depends on the extent of the procedure and the ability to regenerate. But with a conscientious and thorough medical teamwork we do everything in order that our patient could return to his/her everyday life with his/her new and beautiful smile as soon as it is possible.
