During the tooth whitening at our surgery, first the colour of the teeth are changed chemically. The specialist carrying out the treatment uses a special whitening gel which oxidises discolouration on the teeth. Before the treatment, the gel is isolated from the gum and saliva in order to exert its influence only on the teeth and not to cause potential complications.
From one whitening treatment we can count on one or two hints of lightening. The treatment is only suggested in case of teeth, which are in good condition and free from dental decays and tartars.
Within three weeks following the treatment You should avoid strongly colouring materials like: nicotine, coffee, tea, red wine and fruit juices. The process of discolour can be slowed down with perfect oral care and the careful use of whitening tooth creams.
Tooth whitening does not cause any lasting harm or damage. It can dry the structure of the teeth temporarily and we can count with the transient increase of our teeth sensitivity to heat. This will cease gradually and automatically but with special materials (tooth pastes for tooth neck sensitivity and a gel which can decrease concentrated sensitivity can be asked for at our surgery)the improvement time can be reduced.
